I started this in 2020 and finished it up for my grad school portfolio over the weekend. I'm not as connected to medieval fantasy anymore and there are still technical things I would have done differently now but I put a lot of hours into it so I guess I should have it up somewhere! Again. Someday...better photo...ahhh (3'x3' oil on canvas)
30 minute drawing from figure drawing last night. Our teacher encouraged us to start from a toned ground made with charcoal powder and build up the values in reverse. I don't usually start so dark so it was a little bit of a challenge getting the kinds of midtones I like but the process was fun and felt like it activated my painting brain a little.
1 hour. More focus on composition. I could have messed with this for another hour but maybe it's for the best I got cut off. It's easy to over-work these things.
I just got back from a trip to visit some family and friends in another state and have a bunch of traditional sketches to scan so stay tuned!

I need to get around to taking some pictures of the latest from figure drawing, but in the meantime here's some doodles and WIPs.
Sometimes I can get into a mood by drawing someone feeling an emotion I want to feel so I drew Vic being defiantly happy.
Mona! How does she paint with those nails on? Talent.
A big poster thing I've been picking away at for a bit.
Detail.
